Tasting Notes
Grown around the villages of Bue, Chadoux, Chavignol and Verdigny, from 35 year old vines. This sancerre is an example of classic winemaking from low yielding Sauvignon Blanc vines producing oppulent wines which show terroir. This dry white displays exotic summer fruits, white peach, pear and honey, and mineral influenced flavour reflective of the region`s destinctive soils. Delivering an elegant and well balanced taste of kiwi fruit and gooseberries it then leaps into a fresh and clean tang with a delicious zesty lime and stony finish.

Food
Wonderful with shellfish, seafood and white meats.

Region
This beautiful region is situated 200Km south of Paris and extends west along the high reaches of the Loire River. This is a cold climate region making top quality wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir and includes the following famous villages; Sancerre, Pouilly Sur Loire, Quincy and Menetou-Salon. The soils have a high percentage of flint and limestone, and this results in crisp, aromatic whites and perfumed, elegant rose and reds. Littered with artisan producers, the best single Domaine wines are made in small quantities and are of top quality.

Producer
Founded in 1850 Domaine Laporte sits on the edge of a valley known as La Cassure de Sancerre. This unique geological formation is divided into two distinct soil types. limestone hills on one side of the valley, flint hills on the opposite side. Grapes grown on each of these different soils are vinified accordingly by each parcel. This careful respect for soil typicity and place gives each wine an individual expression and personality. Owned by the incomparable Henri Bourgeois, this boutique estate is renowned for being a top quality producer of both Pouilly-Fume and Sancerre and has been recognized in 2014 in the Top 100 Wineries in the Wine & Spirits Magazine. The great pride of Laporte is the single vineyard ‘Domaine du Rochoy’. This slope of 10 ha is very famous for its history and its exceptional flint soil.
